Why was PR your chosen career?

I have always loved writing and all things creative. I remember in year 4 gathering a few people together and starting the school newspaper! Having dabbled in social media, digital marketing and music journalism, I fell into PR and have loved every second of it!

If you hadn’t chosen a career in PR, what would you be doing?

In a perfect world where opportunities were equal and rife, I’d probably look into working in broadcast or carry on with my music journalism however in the real world, I’d probably teach English in another country or join a commune across the other side of the world!

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

“Fake it until you make it”

If you won the lottery, how would you spend it?

I would take a metal/silver smithing course, learning how to make jewellery and open a little shop. The shop would have a joining bar/venue that would have live music, open mic nights and serve the best amaretto sours in town (can you tell I’ve thought about this before). I’d also make sure my family were set up financially and would go travelling to Southeast Asia.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?

My paper round when I was 13-16. It was soulless and absolutely brutal in the winter months. Black ice has traumatised me for life. Constantly slipping and sliding with about 50 newspapers on my shoulder… not fun. The Christmas tips were good though!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

Without a doubt, a panda! I think they’re quite cheeky and mischievous so it would be a lot of fun. I think the panda eyes would be a strong look too!

If you could, would you live forever and why/why not?

Not a chance! I couldn’t live without my loved ones around me. Not to mention the impending doom of the planet and climate crisis (sorry to be morbid!)

Who are your top three dream dinner party guests?

Dead or alive? Oscar Wilde for sure! I think he’d be hilarious, witty and super flamboyant. Brian Molko, I’d love to just pick his brains on all things music and writing. Vivienne Westwood as my final guest, I think she would have some brilliant stories!

I recently attended a leadership training course where we were asked to define our leadership style and our core values. We were guided through this exercise during the course but it got me thinking about my core values – the things that, when challenged, can prompt a physical reaction and an emotional response. It didn’t take me long to work...
