Skout’s 2024 Annual Offsite: Glitz, glamour and mystery

In the world of B2B PR, breaking away from the day-to-day routine can bring fresh perspectives and a change of pace to the work we do here at Skout. So, for our eagerly anticipated annual business offsite last week, Skout traded the office walls for the grand fortress of Peckforton Castle, in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.

The grounds – which were nothing short of magnificent – provided the perfect setting for the team to look to the year ahead, brainstorming exciting ideas and think BIG. Not to mention, the team had the chance to channel their inner-Great Gatsby in a roaring twenties themed evening of glitz, glamour and mystery.

Before looking to the future, the team took a moment to celebrate the year’s successes, from the small (yet mighty) wins to some incredibly impressive achievements. This year, we’ve been aiming bigger than ever, winning exciting new clients and securing some brilliant opportunities. We’ve had our fair share of challenges, but the ability to remain strong as an agency is a testament to the resilience, dedication and skill of the team. The annual offsite also marked nearly a year since Skout transformed into an employee-owned business, a bold step towards investing in Skout’s future for many more years to come.

We heard updates from the team about where the agency will be progressing in the coming months, from HR to marketing and operations. The meeting was a great opportunity to highlight how Skout plans to develop its operational and cultural excellence  and continue to deliver fantastic results for our clients. Rounding off the business agenda, and in line with our Growth Mindset initiative, the team got their thinking caps on to brainstorm what it means to act BIG. Each of us made a pledge to make one ambitious change to transform the way we think and work, stepping out of our comfort zones in order to grow not just as a team, but as individuals.

Wrapping up the business meeting, Skout headed into a night of glitz and glamour, donning their finest 1920s-style attire as they stepped into the era of the Great Gatsby. Greeted by some eccentric characters, the team worked together to solve the clues to deduce who was behind the murder of Gatsby himself in an unforgettable immersive experience. The winning team were treated to a well-deserved bottle of champagne to reward their sleuthing skills – not too shabby!

It’s hugely important that we not only look to the future and take action towards our goals as individuals and as an agency, but also to reflect on our successes and appreciate how far we’ve come. Our annual business offsite allowed the team to come together – in a castle, no less – and collaborate in new and exciting ways, sharing perspectives and learning a little more about each other along the way.

Until next year, old sport!
