Meet the Skout: Claire

1. Why was PR your chosen career?
I’ve always been a good talker, right from the day I learnt to speak (just ask my mum). Communications has always seemed a natural path for me to follow and after doing a degree in Communication Studies, I decided that PR allowed me the greatest opportunity to indulge my passion for a good old-fashioned natter!

2. If you hadn’t chosen a career in PR what would you be doing?
Teaching. The idea of imparting knowledge to children who are like sponges has always appealed to me.

3. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Never eat yellow snow (I grew up in Buxton). On a PR level – always make your client your friend, it’s much harder to sack a friend than a supplier.

4. If you won the lottery, how would you spend it?
Make sure that my children and broader family were all set financially and then I would buy a home abroad to escape the British weather, buy a soft top sports car to enjoy the 2 days warm weather we do have and then visit all of the places in the world that I’ve only over seen in pictures.

5. What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
Working in burger vans at sporting venues such as Wembley Stadium – noisy and quite frightening the more drunk the fans got.

6. If you were an animal what would you be and why?
A giraffe. Being a tall woman (and one with a passion for high heeled shoes) I’m happiest when I can see over the crowds so this would definitely be my spirit animal.

7. If you could, would you live forever and why/why not?
No I wouldn’t. I’m glad that life is finite – it means that I have a deadline in which to fit all of the things that I want to do while I still have the physical and mental ability to do it. I’d also hate the thought of losing those I care about whilst I live on forever (have you ever watched Highlander?).

8. Who are your top three dream dinner party guests?

Sir Richard Branson, Peter Kay and Michelle Obama.
