Shining a light on our clients for International Women’s Day

Did you know that as an agency we have a strong female presence across all roles within the business? In fact, two-thirds of our senior management team are female – this exceeds the global PR industry average of around 30%! That’s why we never miss the opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) and recognise the achievements of the inspirational women we work; whether that’s our colleagues, clients or agency partners.

This year, we thought we’d get our fabulous female clients involved in IWD by asking them to share a piece of advice they would give to their younger selves. And their responses did not disappoint. Their insights reflect not only their diverse experiences but also showcases the valuable lessons they have learnt during their careers in marketing.

Here’s what they said:

Joanne Danehl, Director of Global Skills at Crown World Mobility

“Nurture and value your network – and I don’t just mean on social media. Knowing stuff is important but knowing people in the organisation is more powerful. You want to be a trusted resource for colleagues and have people you can approach for help / advice / brainstorming.”

Samantha Dent, Marketing Manager GB & Ireland at Miele Professional

“Stop people pleasing. You can be a good person and still:

  • say no,
  • disagree with people,
  • make mistakes,
  • stand up for yourself,
  • set boundaries to protect your peace
  • prioritise yourself.”

Eleanor Mesquita, Senior Marketing Manager at BI Worldwide

“Forge your own path, make the decisions that are right for you, and strive always to move closer to your goals, no matter how long they may take you to achieve!”

Rebecca Walton, Head of Marketing at 100% Group

“Do what makes YOU happy, listen to your instincts and don’t compare yourself to others

These principles may seem straightforward, yet they are powerful guides that can lead to genuine happiness and personal & professional fulfilment. Embracing these simple truths can transform not just how you live your daily life but also how you forge your career path and personal relationships. Remember, true success is about finding joy and authenticity in what you do and who you are.”

Georgia Rowe, Marketing Manager at razorblue

“Yolo. Life is short!

If I’m ever scared to do something, I remind myself: you only live once. Every experience – good or bad – is either a memory or a lesson.”

Kate Jones, Marketing Manager at Kohler

“Trust your gut. If something feels not quite right or you’re not sure that it’s the best move or decision, then let it pass you by and don’t try to shape it into what you hoped it would be.

I’ve made many decisions that I wish I’d taken a bit more time over when the red flags have waved. And then others when it felt so right from the start which led to a really great working environment.”

Caitlin Pyett, Account Management Director at Crown World Mobility

“Take your head out of the clouds, keep your eyes on the road ahead, and believe that your feet can take you where you want to go.”

Jennifer Sherlock, Marketing & Communications Manager at Assent BC

“Don’t be shy, be confident and believe in yourself. Trust your abilities, take those risks, and never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Every setback is just a lesson, not a failure. So, pick yourself back up, keep pushing forward, and embrace every opportunity that comes your way. You are stronger and more capable than you know”

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful clients for celebrating IWD with us. Before you go, ask yourself: What advice would you give to your younger self? We would love to hear your learnings. For more content like this, head over to our LinkedIn and drop us a follow.
